VOLUNTEERING IN SCHOOL

At North Harringay Primary School we welcome parent and carer volunteers into our school.  Each term we offer an induction meeting for parents/carers who would like to volunteer to help children with their reading.

Sometimes, there will be a call-out for people with particular skills to help out in school. At other times of the year we may also ask for help with ad-hoc activities such as school trips, cooking, cycling or sharing stories from other countries.

We are very keen to sign up parent helpers who are able to commit to coming into school regularly, for example for one hour (or more) every week.

Please note that we do not encourage Parents/Carers to volunteer in the same year group as their child.

How to go about volunteering?

To express your interest and to find out more details please contact Rhiannon Mapleston, our Assistant Head teacher for Inclusion who arranges all our parent volunteering sessions. She can be emailed at  admin@nhp.haringey.sch.uk

 Volunteers Induction and DBS Checks

All regular volunteers will be asked to attend an induction session and undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS), paid for by the school. Please see below induction meeting dates for this academic year and contact the school office to book your place.

Our child safeguarding procedures at NHPS mean that all regular volunteers have to provide us with references, complete statutory and safeguarding checks. Keeping our children safe is the most important thing.
Once you complete your induction and receive a DBS clearance we will then allocate you to the class you will be helping in.
